In April 2025, Germany inaugurated the German University of Digital Science (German UDS) in Potsdam, marking the country's first fully digital university. The institution offers programs in digital science, AI, cybersecurity, and digital transformation, operating entirely online through platforms like Open edX. The university aims to provide accessible education globally, particularly targeting students from the Global South.
German UDS received state recognition from the Ministry of Science, Research, and Culture in February 2025. The university's innovative approach seeks to make the academic quality of German universities more globally accessible through digital teaching. Applications for MBA and Master's programs starting on October 1, 2025, are currently open, with early-bird discounts available for applicants who complete their application, sign the contract, and pay by June 15.
